Earth Day

Kia Ora, today I am posting about what we have been doing in Wananga, what we have been doing is a activity on Earth Day, and its a task that our teacher gave us:
Earth day 2021: Restore Our Earth
Volcanoes

  1. 1970 - Earth day began in the U.S

  1. 2019 - an area of forest the size of a football field was cut down each minute/

  1. 2015 - around 190 countries signed the Paris agreement

  1. 2030 - sales of new petrol and diesel cars will end in the U.K

  1. Look at the section called Global Warming. Find and copy one word which shows that climate change on the Earth is not following the course of nature. - unpredictable

  1. Fill in the missing words. - Trees produce valuable oxygen and help absorb CO2 from the atmosphere.

  1. How much plastic is currently on Earth? - 9 billion tonnes

  1. Explain how the process of reforestation helps with carbon offsetting? - reforestation helps absorb carbon dioxide and helps restore the habitats of many animals.

  1. Electric and hybrid cars - Which produce lower/zero CO2 - are now being widely manufactured  - Explain what the term ‘widely manufactured’ means? - It means that the creators are making lots of them and are successful.

  1. Discuss why you think nations may have chosen to sign the Paris Agreement. - I think that other countries decided to sign the Paris Agreement because they think it would be better for their country and the Earth.

  1. Summarise why it is important to restore our Earth in 30 words or fewer - I think we should restore our Earth because of what’s happening to it at the moment, animals are dying or becoming endangered/extinct, loads of trees are getting cut down, and small countries are losing most of their land each minute.
