In art class today, Whaea Rowena had assigned us to introduce you to our topic which is Henri Rousseau.
Henri Rousseau was a French post-impressionist painter in the Naive or Primitive manner. He was also known as Le Douanier, a humorous description of his occupation as a toll and tax collector. He was born in Laval, France on the 21st of May 1844 and died on the 2nd of September 1910.

5+ Facts about Henri's art:
1. Henri was born in 1844 and grew up in a small town in Laval, France to a family of plumbers. He studied law, but was extremely good in art, and was completely self-taught.
2. Henri did not begin painting seriously until his forties. He worked office jobs to support himself.
3. in 1886, Henri's exhibited in the Salon des Independants, known to showcase artists like Henri Martise, Paul Cezanne, Paul Gauguin. With Henri's naive style, Henri's work was never taken seriously by critics.
